Summary

Amends the:

Do Not Call Register Act 2006
to: provide that individuals can register their preference not to receive telemarketing calls or marketing faxes; and enable the minister to specify a longer period of time for which numbers remain in force on the register and to reinstate numbers that have lapsed on the register at the end of the current three-year registration period; and
Telecommunications Act 1997
to make consequential amendments, including enabling the Australian Communications and Media Authority to develop an industry standard for the fax marketing industry.
